How to put your iPhone and iPad into recovery mode

what is recovery mode or DFU mode?

When your iOS installation or upgrade is damaged, your iPhone or iPad automatically goes into the recovery mode. 

It is a failsafe that is developed for iOS software so that your devices cannot be damaged any further. 
If you failed to update your iPhone via Software Update over the air, or your iPhone has simply become unresponsive, 
If your iOS device is not being recognized by iTunes then you may need to perform a recovery mode.

When Will Use Recovery Mode / DFU Mode on iPhone?

You should use iPhone recovery mode when you:

You are simply trying to update to the latest iOS software and your iPhone gets stuck in a continuous restart loop. 
You attempted to restore the iPhone from backup, the process didn’t complete, and now iTunes doesn’t register the device when you connect it to your computer. 
Your device stuck on the Apple logo, with no change, for many minutes. 
Your iPhone won’t turn on when you try to update the new iOS. 
You intentionally need to enter recovery mode to solve a problem. 
You’re trying to jailbreak your iPhone but it goes terribly wrong. 
When you connect it Upgrade from a beta version of the iOS and there's a bug.

Note: Please note that you will lose all the data on your iPhone when you restore it.

How to Put iPhone 4/5/5s/6/6s in Recovery Mode?

Step 1. Make sure that the latest version of iTunes is running on your PC or Mac. if have not you can download it from here. ( Download iTunes )

           

Step 2. If  iTunes is already open on the computer, close it and Connect
 the USB cable to the computer but not connect to iPhone.

Step 3. Turn Off your iPhone by the press and hold down the On/Off button on the right side (iPhone 6 or later) or top side (all other iPhones) for 3 seconds.

Step 4. Press and hold down the Home button on your iPhone for 10
 seconds.

Step 5. Now press and hold down the Home button and Connect the
 USB cable to the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

Step 6. Release the Home button when you see iTunes connect
 the screen on your iPhone.

Step 7. At this step, iTunes will open automatically inform you that
 your device is connected in recovery mode and that you need to restore the device.

Note: If the image of a battery appears, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again. If you don’t see the Connect to iTunes screen, try these steps 1 through 6 again.

How to Exit Recovery Mode on Your iPhone 4/5/5s/6/6s?

Step 1. Keep press and hold down the On/Off and Home button until the Apple logo appears. Your iPhone will start up and exit the recovery mode.
